Blood In the Snow by Shewoolf
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7580325/1/Blood_In_The_Snow
Author Edward Cullen finds a man buried in the snow, nearly beaten to death. Love grows as he cares for the man, but will his attackers find him? Slash, Rated M. Multi-chapter WIP, Edward/Jasper

This story starts out with a bang, popular author Edward Cullen decides to spend the winter at the family's secluded lodge. He's an author, and recently has had a bad case of writer's block and he thinks that being 100 miles away from any interruptions is just what he needs. The only one there with him is Alec, his doberman. While going for a run one morning they make a discovery....

"I caught up with Alec just in time to see him frantically digging in the snow. "What is it, boy?" I joined him in digging. What the hell is that? As I pulled the snow back, I could see what looked like an arm. Shit. Did I just find a body? Alec kept digging, whining frantically. Then I saw the arm move slightly. No, not a body, someone buried in the snow. Alec uncovered a head and I could see that it was a man. His eyes were closed and his skin was bluish. He'd been here a while. At least overnight, since it snowed last night and he was completely covered. I finished digging him out. He was naked and lying in a pool of frozen blood. He had obviously been injured, but I couldn't tell if he'd been in an accident or if someone had purposely done this to him. He was breathing, but it was very shallow. I had to get him back to the lodge and warmed up as soon as I could, or he wasn't going to make it."

This is how he meets Jasper Whitlock, he feels extremely protective of Jasper and that surprises him. He knows nothing about him, not even his name, and mostly he knows nothing about why he is in the shape he's in. Was Jasper in an accident? Did someone do this to him? He has so many quesitons, but mostly he wants to take Jasper home and take care of his injuries, he's covered head to toe with cuts, bruises, cigarette burns, and his arm is broken. Edward cleans him up as best he can, puts a splint on his arm, and waits for him to wake up.

While waiting for Jasper to wake, Edward calls his father Carlisle. He asks his dad if there has been anything in the news about a missing person, he gives him Jasper's description and to his surprise he seems to match the description of a man that was apparently killed in a house fire. Being curious Edward decides to do a little research and soon finds out that Jasper may be connected with the Volturi Family. When he Google's them, he's shocked by what he finds, they've been involved in everything from drugs to human trafficking. Why would Jasper be involved with these horrible people? He can't wait for Jasper to wake up to find out.

Upon waking, the realization that he's on his own hits Jasper really hard, he's in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of winter. With a man he knows nothing about. Can he trust Edward to keep him safe? What happened to his family, are they safe? They both seem somewhat drawn to each other, even though they've just met. Jasper has recently lived his life trying to keep the Volturi away from his family, and keep them safe. The last relationship he was in didn't turn out good at all, when he went to surprise his boyfriend Peter, he was the one that got a surprise. Peter was not who Jasper thought he was at all. Edward has about the same luck in love. He was in a 3 year relationship that they both realized was going nowhere. Recently Jasper has taken solace in books, his only escape from the stress that he deals with daily, thanks to the Volturi. They will have lots of time to get to know each other, as the worst blizzard of the season is on it's way.

The depth of their feelings take both of them by surprise, Edward is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Jasper is safe....

"Holding Jasper in my arms just feels so right. His warm back snuggles close to my chest and I listen to his soft sighs as he slowly starts to relax. Leaning close to his ear, I whisper, "Sleep well, Jazz. I won't leave you." I mumble almost to myself, so quietly I don't think he can hear me, "… not ever."
"Never… please don't let me go, ever", he murmurs.
I let my lips brush the edge of his ear, whispering that I'll never let him go… he'll never be alone again… I won't let anyone hurt him again. I can feel him relaxing as he drifts off to sleep. I hold him close as my mind races. I have to figure out a way to be sure those men can never again get to him. I know I need to call my dad tomorrow. He knows people in influential places that might be able to help. Jasper can't spend the rest of his life in hiding… in fear."

I like how this story is writen, it's definately a slow burn. It's written like a crime drama, we learn that Jasper and his family have been forced into business with the Volturi Family. Not something they liked, or wanted to be involved with. Jasper makes a brave attempt to try to save his parents and hopefully get them all to safety, but things don't go as planned and he finds himself in a very dangerous situation. This is the first slash story that Shewoolf has written, it's very different, and very well written. I hope we get alot more stories from her in the future. She would like to thank Slashkitten Mina for the beautiful banner, and Gabby her pre-reader.

Vicious Temptiations by kittenxxkisses

Vicious Temptations by kittenxxkisses.

Summary: There are desires that are fulfilled, and there are desires that gnaw at your heart until you're driven to the most desperate of measures. Rosalie Hale knows this better than most.

Rosalie wanted a normal future; one filled with dreams of grandeur and elegance; of family, fame and fortune.

And children. Especially children.

When the dashing, rich Royce King waltzed into her life, she felt so close to her goal. She tried to get married to him as soon as possible, so that her plans for the perfect life could be set in motion.

He told her to wait: they had time, why rush into things?

So she waited.

The very next night, he raped her.

This is the introduction to Kittenxxkisses one-shot ‘Vicious Temptations’, and it’s exactly what its name suggests. That is a graphic as it gets, so no worries for those of you with tender stomachs.

It’s truly bittersweet, and focuses on a subtle, yet highly influential sub-plot of the original book series in this fic that is incredibly under-reviewed.

Rosalie, and her unending yearning for a baby of her own.

Kittenxxkisses perfectly captures the longing and desperation that’s under-expressed in the books, weaving it into a short tale that creates a strong sense of sympathy and empathy for Rosalie’s character.

Rosalie hated being a vampire. She hated the cold, hard shell she was confined to. She hated how she was more dead than living. She couldn't age; she couldn't change.

She couldn't have children.

It frustrated her that she was so damn close to achieving her life's goals.

And now she didn't even have a life anymore.

And it suits her character perfectly. Not because she’s a cold hearted bitch, but because of the ever present yearning that she feels. The only things that she’s ever wanted, truly desired, becomes her forbidden fruit.

You feel sad and sympathetic because she can’t have the one thing that most of us ladies take for granted; the ability to have children and to raise a family when we’re ready. It’s stolen away from her and it hurts. Being immortal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and this clearly shows the other, contrasting side to Bella’s longing to join Edward in immortality. Two opposing side, where ‘the grass is greener’ definitely springs to mind, and with good reason.

Our hearts lift as she finds Emmett, and I laughed and shared in her annoyance towards Edward and Bella. It’s a breath of fresh air, but still incredibly honest and feels as though Rosalie herself is speaking.

It’s chilling at times to read just how far Rosalie is prepared to go in order to achieve her dream, but enrapturing, and despite her callousness, you feel triumphant and appeased when she finally achieves her goal.

And the little twist at the end? Hilarious! It adds a slight sense of joviality to what has the potential to become a much darker multi-chapter fic, and leaves you considering Rosalie’s story long after reading.

A Roll in the Hay by RampantChaos11

Wednesday, January 25, 2012.

Pairing: Edward/Jasper
Rating: MA
Status: WIP
Warnings: Language, Lemons, and Shirtless Cowboy Jasper…
Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7505293/1/A_Roll_In_The_Hay

RampantChaos11 has written one heck of an Edsper (Edward/Jasper). It all starts as Dr. Edward Cullen working in a small town in Ohio. He doesn’t know anyone around, but he thrives on his time at the grocery store. The reason for him longing for Sunday mornings at the grocery store is none other than the cowboy, Jasper Whitlock.  Their conversations start one day after Edward finishes work and Edward sees Jasper on the side of the road with a broken down tractor and his shirt off. The whole drive, Edward checks Jasper out and Edward has to hide his feelings and his reaction to Jasper being so close to him.

These two go round and round. Before they “come out of the closet”, Edward and Jasper both think of each other and are afraid to admit it. Jasper invites him to hang out several times and they figure out some way or another that they’re both into men. One part that I remember is Edward had gone to Jasper’s Poker Night and Edward and Jasper kept grazing each other, but they both thought that it was by coincidence until they saw that the other one didn’t pull away.  I bet you know where that’s headed, *laughs*.

RampantChaos11 switches between both Edward’s and Jasper’s point of view which makes the story even better. The reason that it makes it better is because you get to see how Jasper feels about being gay and how much he cares about Edward. I personally think that Jasper is the funnier one, but they are definitely both very funny. The first time they make out outside, it was after Jasper had hit his head, I think; anyways, they were basically dry humping outside, and *laughs* some girl drives or walks by saying “Woohoo!” After that, we get to read both of their points of view of that.

Anyways, this is serious. RampantChaos11 is a great writer when it comes to these two men. She makes this story very realistic and believable. There is family poking their noses in, there are jealous girls involved, just typically the normal male relationship.

The technical part of RC11’s story is really well taken care of. I don’t know if it’s obvious to anyone else, but writing takes a lot of work to make it look good, and RC11’s story definitely looks good.

A Roll in the Hay is RampantChaos11’s only posted story on Fanfiction.net and I think that with such a good job, they deserve to get more readers. I hope that all of you see what I saw in this story because it is purely amazing.

Going under, by SparklnFade @carenl

Going Under
Author: SparklnFade
Pairing: E/B
Rating: M
Type: WIP
Summary: It's been ten years since the summer Bella Swan's life changed. What will happen when she comes face to face with the reason for it? She went under once, will she go under again?

Link: Going Under

When I realized that the author of I Never Knew changed her penname and had started writing a Surferward story, I was in. Also with the doldrums of winter just staring to settle in, I thought a story that was set in California and Hawaii was the thing to cure my blues.

So far, I haven’t been disappointed. The story’s prologue is a quick interaction between Bella and owners in a Hawaiian store when someone from her past arrives, causing her to panic.  At the end of the chapter, we still don't know who the mystery man is.

The next chapter moves ten years into the past with Bella and Charlie moving to Santa Cruz where she decides to try her luck at getting a job at a local surf shop. Without having any real knowledge about surfing or skateboarding, Edward, the owner, gives her a shot with the condition she needs to learn how to surf too.

Edward begins to give Bella surf lessons, and the interactions between these two are just a beautiful slow burn. Edward is the father of a three year old son, Lilse (nickname for Carlisle) who he had with his now ex-wife. Lisle brings a lovely childlike interaction and is often the catalyst to get Edward and Bella talking or the reduction of tension between the two.

Her characters are flawed, but beautifully so. The story has short chapters, but the content is anything but lacking.

He bent over, grabbing his surfboard and tucking it beneath his arm. He shrugged. "It's your first day, you can't give up on me already," he insisted. "And I know you won't. You don't have it in you."
He turned and started up the beach. I hurried to follow.
"I don't really have a choice," I said, shrugging as we walked side by side.
Edward stopped, turning to me. He lifted his hand and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. I melted. "You always have choices. It's up to you what you do with them."
It’s a WIP, however she’s already said it is complete, so you won’t have to wait a long time between chapters. Her update schedule is pretty regular, around once a day.

So if you like reading about a tanned and toned Edward and a Bella with some spunk and backbone, give this read a try.

Oh, and just a little self promotion -
I'm hosting a new contest.
If you're tired of all the sickingly picture perfect fics out there, then go write us one about real life.
All the ups, downs, struggles and triumphs.  We want to hear them.

You're Mine by arohalee

Pairing: CarlislexBella

Status: Complete
Warnings: NC-17

You’re Mine by arohalee

Summary: "I'll do more than show you, Isabella. I've waited a long time to make you mine and make no mistake, you are mine" I growl at her. Rated M for some language and adult content, you've been warned! One-shot.

This one-shot by arohalee is exactly what the doctor ordered when you need a nice dose of hot non-canon smut. It takes place during Breaking Dawn, after the honeymoon, but it’s slightly AU, because Bella doesn’t fall pregnant.

It’s told in Carlisle’s POV, which is a nice and unexpected change, allowing us a glimpse into the surprisingly naughty mind of the eldest Cullen, and the majority of the fic is comprised of a flashback as Carlisle reminisces over his naughty liaison with his daughter-in-law.

Bella wants – no, needs – to be taken fiercely and ferociously, and Carlisle wants nothing more than to bend her over his office desk and give into his desires. In his words, ‘While her blood may sing to my son, her body sings to mine…’ He feels ashamed at what he craves, he doesn’t deny the fact that Bella is what he needs.

Carlisle isn’t painted to be the picture-perfect, impeccably flawless character that SM creates, and because of this touch of lust, slyness and coveting, his character is a lot more realistic and relatable.

Ever since I first inhaled her luscious scent and looked into her huge chocolate eyes I have had this primal urge, a need to devour her and not in an 'I want to suck your blood' sense but in an 'I want to feel your pulse from the inside' kind of way. I know it is wrong and you cannot imagine the shame that courses through my dead veins when I see the happiness that she brings to my first companion, my son.

But despite his guilt, when Bella confides in him about her dissatisfaction in the bedroom with Edward, he seizes his chance.

And boy does it pay off for them. Carlisle gives Bella everything and more, sating both of their needs –for the moment, and they both also explore a couple of new territories together. It’s nothing kinky or crazy, but something that neither of their respective partners would allow, and so, they find that release in each other.

A nice finishing touch is the assurance of their secret by Alice, and the hint that things might just take a turn for the better for them both.

Dirty Talk by celesticbliss (@kyndallmarie)

Summary: Story written for FAGE. How do phone sex, Carlisle and Rosalie mix? Read on! AH/AU/ Non canon.

‘MORE!’ is all that comes to mind when you think about celesticbliss’s one-shot ‘Dirty Talk, and don’t let the pairing scare you away either. In fact, this story will get some of you hard-core BxE fans begging for more RosaliexCarlisle loving.

What we read is a one-shot that’s extremely well written and manages to bring out a range of emotions whist remaining short and sweet. It’s not smutty per se, but gets the point across in a way that’s effective and leaves you feeling satisfied and happy with the characters.

We share in Carlisle’s loving, yet bittersweet thoughts about his late wife Esme. What sounds like the perfect life sadly takes a tragic turn, and that leads to his nightly interaction with Rosalie, seven years later.

We feel giddy with excitement as Carlisle does.

There's something about his new habit that excited him like nothing else ever had. He missed Esme more and more everyday but not even she compared to this. She made him feel very good, but in a very different way. But this, this is something he never knew existed. Something that he thought only existed in the movies, or maybe young couples did.

He settled in, and picked up the telephone to dial a number he knew by heart. His excitement grew, literally, by the sound of the line ringing.

This cues our introduction to Rosalie Hale, who is a secretary in a struggling law firm and by evening, she was mommy. But by night, she was something else entirely. The added detail of her being a mother with a young son, working hard to put food in his tummy and a roof over his head warms us up to a hard-working, sweet character that many wrongly shun simply because of her personality in the original book series.

As she settled into her bedroom with a glass of wine, something she only did for one customer, the phone rang.
Rosalie picked up her phone and purred into the receiver.
"You're late. What have I told you about being late?"
Carlisle stuttered out a response that Rosalie quickly interrupted.
"Did I tell you to talk? Someone is being naughty early tonight."

Despite the naughtiness of the scene that unfolds, there’s still a tender, loving edge that’s brought out and maintained throughout. They’re both head over heels for each other, despite only ever having spoken over the phone, and we cross our fingers as he makes the decision to take the chance that he’s found.

So it’s a well-timed twist of fate that brings Rosalie to Carlisle’s door, or his work one at least. When applying for the receptionist job at Carlisle Inc. Rosalie surely never imagined that the owner would be the man she’s fallen for; and Carlisle would never had imagined he’d hear her voice outside of his phone.

It’s unexpected, but the perfect first meeting for the two of them, one that only strengthens what they already know.

Her velvet voice carried through the building and into Carlisle's ears. The second he heard 'on time' he knew. Without a doubt, he knew who Ms. Hale was.
He took confident strides out of his small office and into the lobby to see for himself what he already knew to be true.
"Ms. Hale?" he spoke, willing his voice not to break. Going over every conversation he'd ever had with this woman trying to remember if he ever told her his occupation. Did she know he was here? Did she even know his last name?
Rosalie turned to face him and Carlisle lost his breath. An angel. There before him, stood an angel.
Her eyebrow raised, knowing she should recognize this man in front of her. Her heart called out to his for reasons she didn't know yet.

Intimate, tender and loving this one-shot leaves no loose ends and finishes gently, leaving you with a longing for another instalment with more RosaliexCarlisle sweetness from celesticbliss.

Under the Waves by Miss Dare
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7519967/1/Under_the_Waves
Jasper is a haunted soul who hates his vampire instincts and gets off by inducing emotions in the humans that he hunts. Dark and slashy. Rated M
Multi-Chapter WIP

Jasper is a vampire, he hates what he is and tries to ease his guilt by feeding off of humans that he thinks want to die, or ones he thinks deserve to die. He uses his empathic powers to sense the people who have lost all hope and truly think they'd be better off dead. He also uses that power to put his victims into such a lust filled fog that they don't realize they're being killed. Then he feels guilty. That guilt makes him sit for days on end barely moving, or sit on the bottom of the ocean just to try to numb himself to deal with what he is and what he does. His life is a never ending cycle of hunting, feeding, feeling guilty, then waiting to feed again. One night while at a gay club looking for his next meal, he finds Edward. The emotions he feels coming from Edward seem perfect for what he has in mind.....

"Jasper quickly approaches the copper-haired boy in torn jeans and black T-shirt who stands by the wall with his hands in his pockets, looking down at the floor. Everything about this boy screams to Jasper.

"You look like you want to die," Jasper says."
What?" the boy asks, stunned, raising his shockingly green eyes to Jasper.
"Nothing," Jasper answers. "Do you want to get off?"

"What?" the boys asks again. He's clearly either dumb or totally wasted. Judging from the smell of him, Jasper bets on the latter.

"I'll make you feel better for a moment," Jasper promises, reaching for the boy's hand to lead him outside and behind the club. He pushes him against the wall and quickly sends a wave of arousal towards him. He wants to be done with it as soon as he can."

But he can't, something about Edward wont let Jasper hurt him. He finds him days later in an alley beat up and bleeding. Without thinking Jasper takes him back to his room at an abandoned factory. He's curious about Edward, but neither of them are very anxious to talk. Edward is curious about Jasper, he wants to know more about what he is, and why he does what he does. Jasper is hesitant to tell him too much. At first he seems to want to keep his secrets, but soon he realizes that he wants Edward to know him.

This is a very dark Jasper, he's existing and that's about it. Edward gives him some hope that maybe he can have another life, despite himself, he likes having Edward around and feels the need to take care of him. But Edward has his own ghosts. He's had a tragic event in his past, someone died while he was on duty at the hospital and he blames himself. Since then he's dropped out of life. When Jasper tells him that he can't leave, and he'll be staying with him until he decides to kill him, Edward sees it as Jasper taking care of him.

Miss Dare has done a great job with the characters in this story, Jasper is a heartless, self loathing cold-blooded murderer who exploits people's emotions while he's murdering them...or is he? Edward doesn't care if he lives or dies, he's in fact lost his will to live and any hope he may have had. For some reason, together they work. Jasper wants to take care of Edward, and Edward in turn wants to make Jasper feel something, and actually tries to comfort him when Jasper feels guilty for murdering a girl in front of Edward. They're both drawn to each other, whether by choice or not.

In the last chapter, Edward falls ill. Jasper worries, what will he do now if Edward dies? He soon realizes he doesn't want to find out. He likes having Edward around and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep him alive. He realizes that Edward is too ill to get better on his own, but he tells Jasper it's just a cold, even though he's racked with a fever and chills. Jasper worried, he knows Edward is really sick, he realizes he'll give Edward anything he asks, unfortunatly what he asks for is not something Jasper wants to give him....

"Can you take this away?" Edward asks softly. And Jasper knows he's not able to deny this boy anything, even if it means that it all ends here.

So he answers simply, "Yes."

"Will it hurt?"

"I'll make it good for you," Jasper promises.

He silently says goodbye to the boy and buries down in him whatever hopes he's ever had. This shouldn't be a surprise – he knew it was coming from the very first moment he saw Edward in the club.

"Close your eyes," Jasper says, placing his hand on Edward's forehead, brushing his hair away. "Just... feel."

and his teeth cut the skin."
Jasper gives Edward all he has in him. Not the usual stuff - not lust or desire, but first the calmness - as much as he can until he feels Edward relaxing. His limbs lose their tightness and Edward sighs and sinks down on the bed as if he's melting.

Then Jasper gradually adds warm emotions - all the ones that people feel while looking with fondness at little smiling babies. But this is still not enough. So Jasper moves to elation, pushes into Edward all he knows about the post-orgasmic state of people who are in love. He hasn't felt it himself - at least not in this life - but he's experienced it in others' emotions.

He envisions gentle light and pure sounds and clear water, molds it together, allows it to grow in him as he adds more and more of longing, caring. And yes – now he mixes it with desire and orgasmic high as well. It feels to him like a giant ball of hot light. Jasper releases the feeling and it hits Edward with force.

This is what pure ecstasy should be like, Jasper thinks, like in old religions. He's heard of it, he's read about it, but he didn't think he'd ever experience it. However - here he is - with Edward lying next to him, breathless, and it looks like the boy is shining too, like his skin is made of light while Jasper places his hands on Edward's chest, leaning down.

He hesitates once more, his lips touching Edward's neck. Edward is too far gone to notice anything. And then Jasper takes a long, deep breath and his teeth cut the skin."

I hope he's able to stop, and I hope they're able to find some happiness with each other if he's turned and they still have the connection they did. These clifffies kill me, and make me want more. Miss Dare has been nice enough to give us a tease of the next chapter. So here it is SPOILER ALERT!

"Edward's fingers curl over Jasper's like it's a farewell, and this suddenly brings Jasper back to now. Jasper opens his eyes wide, taking in the sight-of Edward limp and lifeless under him, but still breathing, his heart still beating, barely, but unmistakably. Jasper hears his own breath, his own whimpers and slurps of his tongue, gulps in his throat - loud and interrupting, offending, sacrilegious. The feeling of the finality of what he's doing dawns on him again and Jasper's insides twist. He is not ready. He is not ready to give up on this boy."

I can't wait to read more. Miss Dare's beta is Fr333bird and Rhythm Junkie is her pre-reader and "hand-holder" Well all I can say is these three are doing a great job. You won't be disappointed.

Twenty Pictures Edward Cullen Took by @orringtonrose

Twenty Pictures Edward Cullen Took
Pairing: B/E
Rating: M
Story Type:  Completed

I hosted a one-shot contest last month called the Twilight Post Secret Challenge.  The object was to select one of the Post Secrets to use as the prompt for your one-shot.  The reason I bring this up, is because the story I’m reviewing today was one that I found completely unique and fantastic.

The story’s premise is that Edward Cullen is a yearbook photographer whose camera gives him a little peek into the subject’s mind at the moment of exposure.  The story she originally wrote for the contest blew me away, especially once I realized that each of these flashes into the people of Fork’s minds were actually also tiny drabbles on one of the Post Secret prompts.

She expanded the story by adding another ten glimpses, which really rounded out what was already a great story to begin with.

Ultimately it is an Edward and Bella story, but each of the snapshots gives you glimpse into all the other high school students and teacher’s lives.

Give this story a try, it really was like nothing I’d ever read before.

If you’re curious, the Post Secret prompts can be seen here if you’d like to see her inspiration for each chapter.

Until next time,

Feature Friday: Author interview with @ACullenWannabe

Friday, January 6, 2012.
Nickname or Penname:

A Cullen Wannabe (but most people call me Jen)

How did you come up with your name?

My very first story was about a human named Angelina Cullen, Bella’s half-sister adopted by the Cullens and raised as a member of their family.  I thought it would be so cool to be a Cullen, so I used the play on her name and made myself A Cullen Wannabe.

What is your favorite color?

Lilac

What do you consider your guilty pleasure song?

Rock Party Anthem by LMFAO

What is your favorite ice cream?

Moose Tracks

What is your favorite candy?

Pretty much anything chocolate

What do you consider your favorite drink?

Dr Pepper or if you’re talking alcohol, Long Island Iced Tea

Do you have a favorite curse word? If yes what is it and why? If not, why?

In real life, I don’t curse.  I have to be really ticked to let one fly.  I also have two sets of little ears around all of the time, so I end up saying things like Frackadoole and Fiddlesticks.  Far cry from FDKK, right?  Hee,hee.  But when I write and my character has a foul mouth it’s a very different story.  I find the F bomb is usually the dominant curse word that worms its way into dialog.

Favorite Holiday and why?

CHRISTMAS…I Love, LOVE, <3, L.O.V.E. Christmas.  No matter what is going on in my life, I always find a happiness and peace at Christmas time.

Which is hotter the good guy or  the bad boy?

Hmmm…If you’re strictly talking hotter, it’s almost always the bad guy, but only for eye candy.  I have enough drama in my life, thanks!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Somewhere beautiful with blue water and sprawling beaches…somewhere Mediterranean would be great!

Do you have any current favorite fics that you have to read every time they update?

I don’t read nearly as much fic as I used to, as there just aren’t enough hours in the day, but I still drop everything when Buried Amongst the Begonias updates.  Most of the rest of my all time faves (Emancipation Proclamation, Elemental, Hydraulic Level 5 – guess I have a thing of heartfail *snickers*) have wrapped, which makes me sad because I miss them like crazy.

If you had the chance to meet any author in the fandom, who would it be and why.

Oh wow…there are so many amazing writers and I’ve gotten to know quite a few through the mediums of facebook and twitter.  Couldn’t we just have a fandom convention strictly for fanfiction authors and readers and then I could meet them all? LOL  Forgive me, but I can’t choose just one, because then I would also be leaving out at least twenty or more others that I would want there with me too!

How did you get into fanfiction?

My daughter was only a few months old when I found Twilight…I read the series straight though twice and just couldn’t get the story out of my head.  I got on Twilight Moms, found out about the existence of fanfiction, and then spoke to my friend about my idea for a fanfiction story of my own.  She encouraged me, I posted it, and the rest is history. Fifteen stories, three extras with outtakes, and five one shots later and I’m still plodding away, though not as fast or as often as in the beginning.

What do you do when not writing?

I’m a mom of two with a love of writing, music, and movies.  I’ve also published an original fiction series through TWCS about Angels, Fallen Angels, and a college aged girl who can see them all when most others can’t.  Between my writing and my kids, there isn’t a whole lot of extra time and I like it that way.

Where did you get your inspiration for this story?

I’ve always been a big fan of the medical drama (in the late 90’s my dorm room was THE room to gather in to watch ER every Thursday night).  I’m also a huge fan of the crime drama and have always had an affinity for hottie SWAT officers.  Throwing it all together and press blend with a little Twilight mixed in, but really just a dash as the characters are really OOC, and you have FDKK!

This story is so well written and very detailed. I found I learned something nearly every chapter, whether it be a new medical term or something about SWAT. So how much research did you have to do for the story?

I’ve always been interested in medical stuff.  I’d actually considered being a doctor for a while until I remembered how squeamish I am and then I tossed that idea out the window. (Cadaver dissection? Don’t think so!) Knowing some basics helped make the research a little easier, but I did do extensive online research into medical traumas and treatments.  I also spent some time researching SWAT training and lingo online.  Granted I didn’t do nearly as much SWAT research, but I got my basis and used my imagination from there.

Now...let's talk “slutward” for just a minute. His transformation from the beginning to the end is quite amazing, and we can see that through both his and Bella's point of view. What made you want to write him that way in the beginning?

From the beginning when I sat down to write Edward, I always pictured someone who had been hurt so badly that he was afraid to ever love again.  What does any guy do who can’t love again?  They either don’t date at all or become a serial player, and we’re talking hottie Edward here…as IF he would chose the former!  He always had a good heart and still loved despite how hard he tried to sabotage that part of his life, but there was one person he would never be able to escape, the one who could push through it all and open him to what was always there.  I’m a big ole sucker for those kinds of romances!

I know it's like picking your favorite child, but if you had to choose which of your characters is your favorite and why?

Oh wow…why don’t you ask me to solve some kind of theoretical physics problem…It might be easier to answer!  Just kidding…well sort of…I’ve written so many stories with so many characters that I just fell in love with, but I have to say, that in some ways Lina (Angelina Cullen from my very first, albeit rough, stories In the Shadow of the Day and Chasing Away the Shadows) is still my favorite.  I loved exploring the idea behind a human living with the Cullens and her unique understanding of everything to do with their world having been exposed it to from a very young age.  Yes, she’s a bit Mary Sue, but I still love her evolution and her connection to all of the characters of the stories and how she learns to be strong and protect those she cares about.  It was my very first story, first original character, and to this day remains very close to my heart.

What is it that you want readers to come away with after reading your stories?

I just want them to come away with a sense of fulfillment and general contentment.  I have this thing where I HAVE to write a happily ever after…or at least a realistically happily ever after.  I can’t stand not to leave it on a good note and I hope that when a reader finishes one of my stories they feel that same sense of warm contentment that I feel when I write it.

If you had to give advice to a new writer what would it be?

I honestly feel that writing is a learning process and the more you do it, the more you learn about yourself, your craft, and your audience.  Just don’t give up…keep trying, keep playing, keep putting yourself out there and stretching yourself by trying out new genres, points of view, and character types.  In the end you’ll find what keeps you motivated, what you enjoy writing, and what challenges you and makes you have to fight harder, making the end product all the sweeter.

Do you have any future fics that we should be on the lookout for?

Between the kids getting older and more demanding and me writing my original work on top of everything else, my fanfiction has slowed way down, but I’m always working on the side.  I find they make great writer’s block busters. ;)  Right now I’m posting The Road Not Taken, which is my first ever Bella/Jasper fic.  I also have a couple more in the hopper.  I wrote a few chapters of First Daughter for The Fandom Fights Mental Illness compilation last spring.  I’ll probably begin posting that with some new chapters sometime this winter.  I also have Not Afraid, a rapper Edward fic based on the Eminem song.  I haven’t done much on it, but I have it in the back of my mind and hope to get back to it sometime in the not so distant future.  In the meantime, I’m putting most of my focus on finishing the last novel of my original series, but once that wraps, I suspect you might see another surge of fanfiction while I plot and plan for the next original story.  Either way, I don’t see me giving up on my fanfiction anytime soon.

Super big thanks for A Cullen Wannabe (aka Jen) for agreeing to do this. Check out her stories including the one's mentioned above and many more at Fanfiction and TheWritersCoffeeShop.
