Vicious Temptations by kittenxxkisses.

Summary: There are desires that are fulfilled, and there are desires that gnaw at your heart until you're driven to the most desperate of measures. Rosalie Hale knows this better than most.

Rosalie wanted a normal future; one filled with dreams of grandeur and elegance; of family, fame and fortune.

And children. Especially children.

When the dashing, rich Royce King waltzed into her life, she felt so close to her goal. She tried to get married to him as soon as possible, so that her plans for the perfect life could be set in motion.

He told her to wait: they had time, why rush into things?

So she waited.

The very next night, he raped her.

This is the introduction to Kittenxxkisses one-shot ‘Vicious Temptations’, and it’s exactly what its name suggests. That is a graphic as it gets, so no worries for those of you with tender stomachs.

It’s truly bittersweet, and focuses on a subtle, yet highly influential sub-plot of the original book series in this fic that is incredibly under-reviewed.

Rosalie, and her unending yearning for a baby of her own.

Kittenxxkisses perfectly captures the longing and desperation that’s under-expressed in the books, weaving it into a short tale that creates a strong sense of sympathy and empathy for Rosalie’s character.

Rosalie hated being a vampire. She hated the cold, hard shell she was confined to. She hated how she was more dead than living. She couldn't age; she couldn't change.

She couldn't have children.

It frustrated her that she was so damn close to achieving her life's goals.

And now she didn't even have a life anymore.

And it suits her character perfectly. Not because she’s a cold hearted bitch, but because of the ever present yearning that she feels. The only things that she’s ever wanted, truly desired, becomes her forbidden fruit.

You feel sad and sympathetic because she can’t have the one thing that most of us ladies take for granted; the ability to have children and to raise a family when we’re ready. It’s stolen away from her and it hurts. Being immortal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and this clearly shows the other, contrasting side to Bella’s longing to join Edward in immortality. Two opposing side, where ‘the grass is greener’ definitely springs to mind, and with good reason.

Our hearts lift as she finds Emmett, and I laughed and shared in her annoyance towards Edward and Bella. It’s a breath of fresh air, but still incredibly honest and feels as though Rosalie herself is speaking.

It’s chilling at times to read just how far Rosalie is prepared to go in order to achieve her dream, but enrapturing, and despite her callousness, you feel triumphant and appeased when she finally achieves her goal.

And the little twist at the end? Hilarious! It adds a slight sense of joviality to what has the potential to become a much darker multi-chapter fic, and leaves you considering Rosalie’s story long after reading.
