Some people say the third time's the charm. Can Edward and Bella find their way back to each other or does fate have other plans? AH, OOC
I don’t know if all you readers of this blog realize that I tend to spend a lot of time on Twitter. I talk about fics, get rec’s that I add to my TBR list (to be read list if you didn’t know what that was). I also talk about real books I’m reading (The Husband by James Patterson is the one right now), complain about my boss, muse about the children in my class and in my home, and drool over lovely pics of Kellan Lutz, Rob Pattinson and Jackson Rathbone. And along the way I’ve managed to meet some pretty amazing ladies. Some of these ladies are just plain ole readers, like I am. But there are some that do what I could never do….write a fic. Sure, I write this blog column every couple of weeks. And sure, I can write an amazing thesis paper. I can even write a persuasive piece that would get you to forgive your mother-in-law for ever giving birth to your husband. But fic? Nope. Not creative enough for that. So, I’m thankful that I’ve met ladies that can do that. And the story I’m reviewing this week, Endings & Beginnings is by 2 of those wonderful ladies that I’ve met on Twitter.
This story starts off with a huge bang. I mean, what else could you expect when the first line is “Mmmm...Edward”? Yep, Edward and Bella are getting busy right off. But here’s the kicker…they shouldn’t be getting busy. Yes, you read that right. Bella is married to Jake. Stop all that booing and hissing out there. Bella and Jake are married, but not happily, and she’s gone to her friend Edward, who just happens to be her ex-boyfriend and her first everything, to get some perspective on her marriage. Edward and Bella were together in high school and they broke up when he went to college; time and life got in the way of them getting back together in a romantic way, though they’ve reconnected on a friendly level. Edward and Jake have even become friends. But on this night, Bella and Edward have taken a step that they should feel bad about; but they don’t. They realize that what they felt for each other never went away. They realize that they want to be together again and that they’ll face telling everyone about them together.
As they’re making this decision, something horrible happens-Charlie is shot. Edward brings Bella home to Forks, and Jake. Edward is distraught that it’s not his arms that are around Bella giving her comfort. As he listens in on a conversation between Jake and Bella, he misinterprets it and leaves her, all the while thinking that she and Jake were getting back together, when that wasn’t what was being said (what was being said? I haven't got a clue, but it wasn't what Edward thought). Edward moves to Chicago to finish his residency, ignoring all of Bella’s calls. I was so mad at him I wanted to reach through the screen and beat him for being stupid!
Flash forward seven years. Yes, seven years. Edward has moved back to Seattle with his daughter and runs into Bella at the opening of Jasper’s bar. Edward wants to know where Jake is cause Bella is dancing with a man that definitely isn’t Jake. At first, Bella “plays it cool” as Alice told her to do. And I was SOOOO proud of her for that! She eventually tells Edward that Jake has died several years before. Bella tells Edward that she just can’t deal with him right now. Bella has a lot going on…she’s got a great career as a principal and a daughter of her own to take care of and she’s just not sure if she can open herself up to the heartbreak that always comes along with Edward.
This is full of angst at the beginning, and I LOVE it! I spent several chapters literally screaming at my computer screen. Will Bella ever forgive Edward for leaving her for a second time? Will Bella make Edward grovel? Will they get back together? Will their children get along? Why don’t you read this with me and we can find out together.

Windy Afternoon by KellanCougar

Pairing: Emmett and Alice
Warning: Character death, flashbacks of sexual abuse, one soft lemon.
Status: Multi-chapter one shot, complete.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6606985/1/Windy_Afternoon
This story is all about love and loss, and the sadness that comes after. Alice who has been abused over and over, finally escapes and is safe. Starting up her own company from scratch, Alice starts making a living with photography. One day while in a sleepy coast town on off season, she finds her inspiration. Emmett. It was obvious that it was love at first sight. She tells the tales of her abuse, and they make love. He is expecting her to stay, but she decides she needs to love herself before she can love somebody else. They say goodbye. 2 years later, Alice returns, knowing he will still be waiting for her, to find out he is dead. Then there is a flashback showing what happened during the 2 years.
What I really loved about this story, is it wasn’t a HEA like everything seems to be. I’ve been losing faith in fiction in general, I usually don’t even read the epilogue now, knowing that they popped out 2.5 kids, and have a dog. So Windy Afternoon was really a breath of fresh air.

When I started my search for this week’s fic, I decided I’d start with those that featured Peter just to see what I would find. It didn’t take long for me to discover this little jem. From the first paragraph, I was happy to see that it was well written and the tone of the story was described beautifully right from the start.
Now, I had to laugh, since I think just about every story I’ve reviewed so far has been a post New Moon setting and this one is as well. I promise to try to find something else for next time. This one is set a few years after that fateful day in the forest only this time Bella family has been destroyed, several members of the Pack have died in an attempt to save her and she’s been bitten two additional times in her battles with the venom being sucked out each time preventing her change. The story veers a little in that the little venom left in her system has changed her human form slightly which she doesn’t really realize until her two new vampire sidekicks meet up with her.
She notices Garrett sitting in the bar she works at and with no fear of what his presence could mean, whisper shouts at him knowing he would be able to hear her over the din of the crowd.
"Hey vamp boy." I sneered, watching as his body stiffened, "Yeah you, you sparkly assed mother fucker. If you are here scouting out a meal, you better rethink your choice in dining establishments. You are not gonna be taking any of these shitheads here on my watch. However, if you are here as a favor to that redheaded cuntpire you can scurry your way back to her bat cave with a message for me. If she really wants me she can come and get me herself. She really needs to quit sending her little stalkers and minions to do her dirty work. Either way, I don't care what you are here for." I turned around and faced him head on. "I will light you up like Griswold's Christmas tree if you don't get the fuck out. You don't like it? You can suck it." I spat at him, tapping two fingers at the pulse point on my neck.

Twenty-two year old Princess Bella Swan thinks she knows what she wants out of life, a handsome prince to sweep her off her feet and rescue her from a life of service. When quiet, intuitive, pianist Edward Cullen is invited to Court though, Bella's world is a thrown a curve ball. Love may come easy, but life in Court, modern though it maybe, is never easy. Surrounded by scheming lords and power hungry men, Bella and Edward may be doomed to the same fate as every other star-crossed lover in history. As Bella learns more about herself she's pulled between choices far greater than simple lovers, because in her hands rests the fate of an entire kingdom.
Ok. So seriously, there is something wrong with me. Serious wrong. I must read 5145627962 work in progress stories, not to mention the ones I start that are completed and I read in their entirety while waiting on the updates that FF.net likes to hold hostage sometimes (Hide & Drink by Savage7289 was the completed story this week) . What? Don’t act like you don’t read that many stories as well. But here’s where there’s something wrong (no, the story count was NOT the problem)….I spent the weekend fic diving to find something new to read and write a review on. See, I just added one to the WIP reading count. So, maybe it’s more serious than we thought ;)
Let me explain my reasoning for picking this story…while I admit to being an angst h00r, I have a soft spot for history. I would have majored in history had I known that I could actually do something with that as a degree (instead, I’m an unemployed elementary school teacher. Go figure). And while this story isn’t necessarily a historical one since it’s set in modern times; to me, Princesses and Court and Lords scream history. It’s just the way my brain works in it’s own warped way.
The Princess in this story is Bella, who lives in the Kingdom of Edelweiss. And yes, my mind went immediately to The Sound of Music. She has come back to her homeland at the encouragement of her mother, the Queen, after spending several years at school in Switzerland. While attending Court, she meets Lord Jacob Black. It’s my guess that the wedding scene that we read about in the prologue is that of Bella and Jacob (but what do I know LOL). I have to admit, I am not usually a fan of Bella and Jake together, I may be way off in thinking they’ll get together; but for some reason, I can see her with this version of him. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s that she hasn’t met Edward yet. Or maybe it’s the way Jacob is portrayed here (he joked with Bella across the Throne Room during Court and made her giggle). Or, I don’t know. But I can totally see it. And I’m shocked with myself! LOL
Now, flash to Edward. He just graduated from Julliard and has been presented with the opportunity of a lifetime to go to Edelweiss and be a court musician for the next two years. He leaves his family in New York and takes his best bud, Emmett, with him and off they go. Since Princess Isabella is a lover of music, I am sure she and Edward will meet each other and spend quite a bit of time together. She may even be the muse that helps him fill in the blanks on a piece he’s been working on for a while that just won’t come to him.
What will happen when Edward and Bella finally meet? Will they fall in love immediately? Will they take it slow? Will they hate each other? Will Lord Jacob be terribly jealous? Will Lady Tanya continue to spread rumors about the princess? Will Princess Isabella get her fairy tale ending with her Prince Charming? Why don’t you read this with me and we’ll find out together.

Review:
Before I get to the review part of this story I would like to point out that in my opinion this pairing has been the hardest for me to read let alone review. I started on this blog as a reviewer as a favor for a friend and said i would help in any segment that was needed. I have now come to the conclusion that I have a horrible time with cannon wolf stories. I find it hard to find any that keep my attention or they all seem to run together. It has almost become a chore to read fan fiction and that is never a good thing. I am worried that I am just not a enough of a hard core Twilight fan to handle all stories. I would like to hear from readers out there if they have any cannon wolf stories that they think are unique, good, stick out or even ones that need highlighting. Also I am curious to hear if people are interested with this blogs division of cannon and non cannon days/weeks. Does it matter to you if we go off sequence and just review whatever we are reading that turns out to be awesome and totally worth a review? I would like to hear your opinions on this matter so i can talk with the other blog members and see if they are up for shaking things up a bit. I am thinking of suggesting that we all have days that we are responsible for a blog but that the content is free rein as long as it is Twilight related. After all the blog is Twific Reviews so I think that anything non Twilight is not really a good fit here.
Ok enough of my random thoughts.
All that said, the story I read this week, Shooting Star written by TwilightSy is wonderful! Just wonderful. I am only 16 chapters in and can't wait to keep reading and see where this story goes. Normally the whole concept of Renesmee and Jacob freaks me out. I hate the whole idea but this author and story have done a wonderful job of making me get past my issues and enjoy this idea. The characters are true to Twilight and I could actually see this as an after Breaking Dawn type of story. This author needs some major props for being able to hurdle past the obstacles of this strange situation that Jacob and Renesmee are in. I love the idea of all the Cullens, and Jacob going to high school with Renesmee. The issues and situations that puberty, emotions, imprinting, and family are addressed and dealt with in this story. Imagine having your Dad listening into to the high boys thoughts about you, all the girls drooling over you hot wolf boyfriend, and trying to hide that you are half vampire throughout it all. You are confused about your feelings and don't know how to fit in and be normal. A great story, concept, and writing make this a must read. it almost makes me forget that Jacob was in instant lusty/love with an infant and now ready to marry a 6 year old in a 18 years body. Almost.
Review, review, review. It is how to keep your favorite authors writing!
Also please don't forget to comment here on your thoughts about this blog. Thanks all!

What is your Favorite Book in the series? - @Just4ALE @stephiesue02 @lizzylillyrose
Just4ALE - most wolf/vamp action, tent discussion, proposal, finally confronting her feelings for Jake, no baby...
Hehe no baby ;-) I think we have another member of the "wtf vamps can have babies" club here with us.I understand that. Though New Moon is typically thought of as the "wolf book" the most interaction between the wolf pack and the Cullens occur in Eclipse. This is also the one with the only true battle scene of the series. Yes Edward and James fight in Twilight but we don't really get much of it because Bella is in pain the whole time. The tent discussion is typically one of the more favorite moments of fans and I squeal every time I re-read the proposal scene.
Stephiesue02 - I think my favorite in the series is Eclipse cause that's is where all the background stories really shine.
I completely agree. It's in Eclipse where we not only learn about Rosalie like I mentioned earlier but we also get Jasper's back story in this book. And I personally love myself some Mr. Whitlock. However we don't only find out about them they play an integral part of the story. We find out about Rosalie's past so we understand Bella's choices, and we find out about Jasper's past because his expertise is needed.
lizzylillyrose - I loved getting to see more of Edward and understanding him more. The film was a huge disappointment to me! I think they tried to portray Bella as the strong one and the whole speech she did at the end just killed it for me. And they missed out the meadow scene when he decides to give her whatever she wants. I loved that bit in the book.
The film was a bit of a let down wasn't it? I mean there was all the action in it and it was done very well and the effects are getting much better but I had soooo many other issues with it. One was with the fact that there seems to be very little continuity between films. Part of this has to do with having different directors for every installment. My favorite lines in the entire saga were no where to be found and it made me very sad.
Favorite Quote: - I just really have one to share with you if you have your own leave it in a comment
"You are in trouble. Enormous trouble. Angry grizzly bears are going to look tame next to what is waiting for you at home."this is from the slumber party scene which was cut from the film. I seriously love the fact that she calls him up to bitch at his voice-mail. It's something that I would so do if I were in her situation.
What is your Favorite Book in the series? - mcgt and katiecav answer
Mcgt - It was the one that was swoon worthy in my opinion. I fell in love with the characters in that book.
I completely agree with that but more so. Its was where we all got to fall in love with the characters. We got to meet all the Cullens for the first time and watch Bella and Edward fall in love. However in my opinion it's not just that it's swoon worthy its one of the more honest of the books. I feel like Bella was far more real in the first book than she was in any of the others. I also think it's my favorite because in my opinion everything went downhill at the end of New Moon and it never recovered. Okay downhill is the incorrect way to describe it, really what the end of New Moon was for me was a plane crash. I absolutely HATE the ending of that book but we'll get to that later I suppose.
Our favorite lines:
"I tried to be diplomatic, but mostly I just lied a lot." - Bella Swan from Chapter OneI really love this quote for the simple reason that it makes me smile. I lie a heck of a lot too Bella it's okay :-)
"I just wondered... if you could warn me beforehand the next time you decide to ignore me for my own good. Just so I'm prepared" - Bella Swan Chapter 5Foreshadowing anyone! How did I miss that in all the times that I've read through the books.
"Honestly - I've seen corpses with better color. I was concerned that I might have to avenge your murder." - Edward Cullen chapter 5Really Edward? I thought you liked this girl. How many corpses have you seen exactly and in what capacity. Not exactly the best conversation starter there Eddie boy.
"Go sit down and look pale" - Edward Cullen; chapter 5I think Bella can handle that. This line just makes me laugh every time.
"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb..." - Edward Cullen, chapter 13I think we're all required to love this line. It's a must. It's one of those *sigh* lines. Where when you read it you just have to sigh after it. I love it.
Okay so that brings us to the end of the first entry of the day. I'm going to hopefully get one for every book done today. I'm also going to set up a poll for the blog that you should all go vote for your favorite book :-) results will be announced in a week. Come talk to me on twitter if Twilight is your favorite or even if it isn't let me know which one is your favorite.

This story was originally written for the We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Coven contest a while back. I stumbled across this little story when I found out I’d be reviewing for the Red Eyes and Royalty segment. Not having read a ton of non-Cullen vamp fics, I had to dive right into the pool and get my proverbial feet wet.
This fic begins with Peter ending up in Seattle on a whim and begins to seek out his prey in a pub filled with lonely inebriated college coeds. He feeds on the hearts and blood of these eager women until one night he realizes he’s being watched.
Meanwhile, Bella’s been living her isolated existence in Seattle ever since Edward left her in the woods. Three years later, she's going to college and trying to be as normal as her broken hearted self can. She watches Peter from afar as he picks up one beautiful woman after another and wondering 'why not me'. At first she just wants him to feed on her, thus eliminating the pain of abandonment she’s been feeling all these years.
A friendship is formed after their initial confrontation and they’re both unsure of where this unusual relationship is going. They both take some missteps along the way, but ultimately find that they’re both scared of needing someone again. But sometimes needing someone isn't the worst thing in the world.
Overall an enjoyable quick read. Check it out.
