This story is a collaboration between cocoalvin (Insomnia) and bellemeer (There's a Crack in Everything), both can be found on FanFiction. Meet Aussie Edward and Jasper! That's right, this story takes place in the land Down Under. The two lovely ladies collaborating are both Australian so this story is truly an authentic and welcome change of venue from North America. The dialogue is peppered with Aussie slang but don't worry, they have helpfully provided a glossary of terms at the end of each chapter.
Edward and Jasper are childhood friends who are inseparable until a twist of fate causes them to lose touch. Fast forward seven years and fate brings Edward and Jasper back together when Jas ends up at the take-away where Edward works on the evening of Jas's 21st birthday. Its a sweet reunion and the friendship seems to pick up as if no time at all has passed. Until Edward admits to Jasper that he's gay. Jasper seems to take the news in stride initially but a rift begins to divide the two friends. Edward thinks its because Jasper can't handle the fact that he's gay, when in fact, Jasper has started feeling things for his best friend that are unexpected and alarming.

What I really love about this story is the slow development of their relationship, regardless of the fact that they grew up best friends. Often with BFF slash fics there is a very quick jump from friends to lovers that's not quite believable, especially when one or both of the characters are introduced as heterosexual. In this story the authors take the time to build the back story between Edward and Jasper as best friends and also provide a glimpse of what they were up to in the seven years they were apart. The slow build to the moment they reveal the extent of their true feelings to each other is more than worth the wait. ;)Reluctantly, I picked up my car keys and walked through to the garage, pressing the remote on the wall and opening the garage door. I opened my car and sat in the driver's seat, my head falling into my hands, as I pushed my fingers through my hair, grasping it tightly. I could feel the pressure on my roots but didn't let it stop me. In some crazy way it grounded me and gave me a sense of reality. What the fuck had happened in the shower? I had no idea and I wasn't sure how I was going to face Ed after the visual I'd had of his cock as I came.Who does that? The story is currently 19 chapters in and updates approximately every two weeks. They even provide a posting date at the end of each chapter. I have been with this story since about Chapter 12 and they've never left me hanging for an update. An update for this story results in severe slacking from me as I will drop whatever I'm doing to read!
